Iris chrysographes

This beauty is Iris chrysographes, the gold-marked iris. Isn’t she splendid?!

Looking from the side, this is an intense purple-black iris flower with gold-marked veining on the area where the main petals fall.

I mean, wow. You can also see what look like tiny white crystals on the petals at the top, leading down to where the pollen is found. I think these are pollen crystals? (If anyone knows, please tell me).

The same flower from a different position but still looking at it from the side. You can also see what look like tiny white crystals on the petals at the top, leading down to where the pollen is found. I think these are pollen crystals.

Just as stunning from above.

Looking from above where you see three smaller petals that are above the main gold-flecked petals. These are a rainbow of purple, black and blue - kind of how oil looks when it's on water.

Sigh. So much beauty.

I'm repeating myself, but the same flower, back to looking at it from the side.
